Puerto Rico And The State of The U.S. Bond Market

United States held municipal bonds have reached peak investment. Des-
pite record-low yields due to consistently low interest rates, record high
investment led municipal bond funds to accrue $632 billion in assets as
of June 1.

This comes in direct contrast to Puerto Rican municipal bonds. Reduced
to junk status in 2014 by three major credit agencies, the island’s local,
state, and national tax-exempt bonds make up the vast majority of its $70
billion debt.

As we promised after our initial poll, today we launch the May round
of our 2016 Elections Puerto Rico Poll. Our March edition proved to
be a success, in terms of gathering insight of the Puerto Rico electorate
looking to the June 5 primary of the New Progressive, Popular Democ-

Pierluisi Trounces Rossello In 2016 Primaries Pasquines Poll

Pedro Pierluisi managed to turn out more supporters for the 2016 Elections
Puerto Rico March-April Poll, easily defeating opponent Ricardo Rossello.
That said turnout from New Progressive Party affiliates was comparatively
low, in comparison to Popular Democratic Party supporters, which indicates
the results are likely not as accurate as we would have hoped for. Only NPP

The Pasquines 2016 Elections Puerto Rico Poll





















The excellent Puerto Rico-focused political website Pasquines will be
conducting a poll to gauge public sentiment regarding local and national
political candidates for the 2016 election. Every two months, up until
the general election, Pasquines will be conducting polling and releasing
the results. The results of this polling will be released in both English and
Spanish, and it will be the first survey to measure opinions in Puerto Rico
on the US Presidential race.

The Puerto Rico Monitor is honored to partner with Pasquines to publicize
this important poll, and encourages all of its readers residing in Puerto Rico
to participate and make their voices heard.
