TROPICAL STORM BERYL FORMS

According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Depression Two has now become Tropical Storm Beryl, the second tropical storm of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season. According to the NHC's 2:30 PM AST update, the system reached maximum sustained winds of 40 mph early this afternoon, putting it in tropical storm status. As of this morning, the storm was expected to dissipate east of the Lesser Antilles sometime early next week. Keep checking this website and our Twitter feed  for any changes in the storm's status or forecast track. No watches or warnings have been issued so far. SENATE REJECTS REPEALING LAW 80

MAN SHOT TO DEATH IN CIDRA HOUSE

A still unidentified male was shot to death shortly after 2:00 AM today in the mountain town of Cidra. Local police were alerted to the shooting by a phone call, and upon arriving at the residence on Girasol Street, in the Campo Bello sector, found the bullet-riddled body of the victim inside his house. Caguas homicide detectives are investigating.

PUERTO RICAN SOCIALIST HEADED TO CONGRESS?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Tuesday night victory over congressman Joe Crowley in the Democratic Party primary election for New York's 14th House District puts the young victor of Puerto Rican descent within striking distance of becoming the youngest woman ever elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Ocasio-Cortez, who was outspent by Crowley during the campaign by a ratio of 10 to 1, has espoused democratic socialist ideas and was able to garner strong grassroots support in the 14th district, which includes parts of The Bronx and Queens. As her congressional district is solidly Democratic, Ocasio-Cortez is the favorite to win the seat in November's general election.

MAN SHOT TO DEATH FOUND IN OROCOVIS

As reported by El Vocero, a murder was reported shortly before 10 PM last night on road PR-156, in the Las Marianas sector of the mountain town of Orocovis. A 911 call alerted police to the shooting, and upon arriving, they found the body of 35 year old Edwin López Rosario, who was a local resident. The victim had been shot several times in different parts of his body.

NUMBER OF GOVERNMENT WORKERS DROPS BY OVER 12K

THE VIOLENCE CONTINUES: MAN SHOT TO DEATH IN CAROLINA

As reported by El Vocero, a man was found shot to death early Tuesday morning on 73rd Street in the Villa Carolina neighborhood of the municipality of Carolina. The victim -- who remains unidentified -- was described as being dark-skinned, about 5 feet, nine inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. He was dressed in a black shirt, red and white pants and black athletic shoes. An anonymous 911 call alerted police to the sound of gunshots in the area shortly after midnight. Police are investigating.

FAMILY KILLED IN DORADO NIGHTMARE

Fall victim to shooting between crooks; Feds may take over

A young married couple, Zuleika Rivera Negrón, age 27 and her partner Angel Pérez Polanco, age 30 were killed along with three of their children last Friday in the town Dorado as the result of a shooting on the same road, with only the couple's 12-year-old daughter surviving. Jaime Joel Ferrer Rivera, a 38-year-old man with an extensive criminal record, was shot at by unidentified assailants as he drove his Land Rover, causing him to lose control of his vehicle, which then crashed into the family's 1992 Toyota Tercel. The family's vehicle then violently smashed against a tree, killing the five victims. Ferrer Rivera died at the scene due to the shooting, after which the perpetrators escaped. Due to Ferrer Rivera being a federal convict, having been sentenced to 30 months in prison in 2004 for stealing shipments of air conditioners, US Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico Rosa Emilia Rodríguez stated that her office may take over the investigation.

"TONKA" GETS TRUCKED OFF TO THE MORGUE...SINGER OZUNA INVOLVED?

POWERFUL DRUG LORD BRUTALLY MURDERED IN SANTURCE

Shortly after midnight this morning, 38-year old Carlos Báez Rosa, who went by the nickname "Tonka" and was one of the most powerful drug lords in the San Juan area, was shot nearly 70 times with various firearms, including AK-47s and AR-15s. The spectacular midnight execution occurred in an alley in the gritty Cantera  sector of Santurce. To add a twist to the story,  police seized a Range Rover SUV at the scene, which belongs to reggeaton singer Juan Carlos Ozuna and contained $6,585 in cash, as well as the singer's wallet. Ozuna dedicated several of his songs to the murdered drug lord, and the latter produced at least one of the singer's recordings. Ozuna became notorious last week due to a viral video in which the reggeaton performer is seen hitting a security guard at one of his stateside performances with a microphone (video is below).

JARDINES DE COUNTRY KILL

Carolina neighborhood reports murder for 2nd weekend in a row

A man believed to be in his early 20s, who is so far unidentified, was shot to death at around 4:30 on Sunday morning in the Jardines de Country Club neighborhood of Carolina. The victim parked his car on 30th Street, between a basketball court and baseball field in the suburban neighborhood, and was apparently shot at several times as he sat in the vehicle. It is unknown whether he was pursued there before being killed. After shooting, the perpetrators presumably drove away in their own vehicle, while the victim left his bullet-riddled car and stumbled for a few feet before falling to the ground, where he died. A 911 call alerted police to the sound of gunfire, and they found the lifeless body soon afterward. This is the second murder reported in Jardines de Country Club inside of a week, and was one of eight violent deaths registered over the weekend across Puerto Rico.

TREASURY NET INCOME UP 1.7% FOR LAST FISCAL YEAR

FAKE COPS ROB VILLALBA RESIDENTS

In two separate incidents at around 3:00 AM on Tuesday, three people were robbed in their homes by four criminals, two of  which were dressed as police officers. The individuals first came to a man's house in the town of Villalba, and after entering the house, informed the victim that they had a search warrant. They them threatened him with a gun and tied him up with an electrical cord before robbing him. The criminals then made their way to the house next door, were they threatened a couple. After a search, the men found $3,000 inside a vehicle, which they took along with a phone before fleeing the scene.

MAN FOUND SHOT TO DEATH IN CAROLINA

The body of 27-year-old Darwin Méndez Mize was found around noon yesterday on the side of Road 860 in the Martín González sector of Carolina. The man, who was shot in the head five times, was a resident of the Loma Alta neighborhood of the same city and had a criminal record. Police are investigating and no suspects have been identified as of yet.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE KILLS WOMAN

An as of yet unidentified 19-year-old woman was murdered by her boyfriend shortly after 6:30 this morning at the Juana Matos public housing project in Cataño. The victim had filed reports of domestic violence against her in the past, with the most recent one happening only yesterday. The 30-year-old male perpetrator attempted to commit suicide after shooting the woman, but was unsuccessful and was taken to hospital after being arrested by police. The killer had a record of previous domestic violence incidents.

Police have identified a man gunned down yesterday morning in a Loíza alley as 39-year-old Jose R "Tatín" Quiñones Ayala, who was allegedly responsible for drug distribution in the local area. Ayala was walking down Melilla alley near 10:40 AM when two males approached him in a small gray car, stepped out of the vehicle and opened fire, leaving him for dead.

PONCE COP DIES AFTER SHOOTING

FEDS WANT COMMONWEALTH IN STATUS REFERENDUM

PREGNANT WOMAN GUNNED DOWN IN VIEQUES

Brenda Concepción Gerena, age 19 and four months pregnant, was shot at around 2:15 on Sunday morning along with her 17-year-old stepsister in front of their house in the Esperanza sector of the island municipality of Vieques. The pregnant woman died at Centro Médico in Río Piedras about four hours later, after both women were taken there by helicopter. The deceased victim's stepsister, María Jiménez Gerena, was not critically injured. The two victims had been involved in a dispute with unidentified people in a different part of town earlier that evening. So far in 2017, Puerto Rico has tallied 188 reported murders.

POLICE DETAINS FOUR MIGRANTS IN MONA PASSAGE

"Police say they have detained four migrants in a northwest coastal area commonly used by people from the Dominican Republic to get into this U.S. territory. Officers said they detained a man and a woman Saturday afternoon aboard a 28-foot wooden boat with an outboard motor just off an area beach. They said another man and a woman were detained at a nearby landing area on the beach. The travelers' country of origin was unknown..."

Six Awful Pro-Wrestling Deaths

Pro-wrestlers dying young or in sketchy circumstances is sadly not uncommon. Many pro-wrestlers, managers and valets over the years have died before their time, mostly from drug overdoses or health complications caused by long-time drug and steroid use. But some wrestling deaths have been so shocking or unexpected that they stand out from the rest. Here are six of the worst cases...

1. Chris & Nancy Benoit

Probably the best known and most infamous wrestling related death. In June of 2007, Chris Benoit -- until then one of the most respected and admired figures in the business -- killed his wife and former wrestling valet Nancy Benoit (aka "Woman", and formerly Nancy Sullivan) by strangulation in their Georgia home. Sometime within the next couple of days, Benoit also strangled and killed his seven-year-old son, Daniel. A copy of the Bible was left next to each body. Within three days of the murders, Benoit comitted suicide by hanging himself using a weight machine in his home. Chris Benoit was known for his work ethic, and after missing a few WWE shows, police went to the house to conduct a welfare check, which is when the bodies were found. It is believed that the murders were the result of brain damage Chris Benoit suffered after years of performing high-impact wrestling moves, which led to a form of dementia. Tests conducted on the deceased wrestler's brain by West Virginia University indicated that "Benoit's brain was so severely damaged it resembled the brain of an 85-year old Alzheimer's patient."

2. Bruiser Brody

Frank Goodish was a large, maniacal brawler who became famous as Bruiser Brody. While he was a big fan favorite, his difficulty in working with others and following direction led him to bounce around from promotion to promotion. In the 80s, he found himself working a lot for Puerto Rico's World Wrestling Council. Before a show in the island in 1988, fellow wrestler Jose Gonzalez (better known as Invader I), lured Brody into one of the shower stalls, and stabbed him in the abdomen. Bruiser died shortly after in a hospital. Several wrestlers were in the same dressing room when the stabbing happened (Tony Atlas and Dutch Mantell, among others), but there seemed to be no eyewitnesses to the actual moment when Brody was stabbed. When time for Gonzalez's trial came, key witnesses either refused to testify or were not notified on time as to when to show up in court. Gonzalez claimed self-defense and was acquitted. He never spoke about the killing, and the exact motive for the stabbing remains unknown. Some blame pro-wrestling's code of secrecy for the lack of answers surrounding the incident.

3. Owen Hart

Canadian wrestler Owen Hart (brother of Bret Hart) played semi-comedic masked character 'The Blue Blazer' in 1999, and his character was scheduled to make a big entrance at the Over The Edge pay-per-view in Kansas City, Missouri that May. Hart was to have been lowered into the ring via a harness attached to a metal cable during the live PPV. As he was about to be lowered, a movement made by Hart may have triggered a quick release mechanism in the harness, which sent the wrestler plummeting 78 feet down to the ring in front of thousands of confused and horrified fans. The incident did not make it on air, but the show controversially went on after Hart was removed from the ring and taken to a hospital. He died of blunt force trauma and internal bleeding at age 34.

4. The Von Erichs

The Von Erich family (not their real name) was a legendary pro-wrestling real-life family from the Dallas, Texas area, led by patriarch Fritz. The Von Erichs, despite their fame and success, seemed to be cursed. Son David died in 1984 of enteritis in a Japanese hospital, although it has long been rumored he died of a drug overdose. Another son (and reluctant wrestler), Mike Von Erich, suffered from Toxic Shock Syndrome after a surgery. The illness debilitated him and greatly reduced his in-ring abilities. He had to retire from wrestling altogether, and killed himself by overdosing on tranquilizers in 1987. In 1991, Fritz Von Erich's youngest son, Chris, committed suicide by shooting himself, after years of being frustrated by his lack of success in wrestling and being depressed over Mike's death. And in 1993, Kerry Von Erich killed himself via a gunshot to the heart, after years of personal disappointments and a serious motorcycle accident that robbed him of one foot and led to him becoming addicted to painkillers. The family's seemingly bright future as a wrestling powerhouse was cut down by tragedy, again and again.

5. Dino Bravo

Canadian wrestler and former WWF tag team champion Dino Bravo was apparently involved in illegal cigarette smuggling, besides his wrestling career. He was also the nephew (through marriage) of a notorious Quebec mafia figure. At some point, Bravo may have crossed someone in the mob, or intruded on somebody's illegal cigarette sales territory. Whatever the case, the hulking wrestler was brutally gunned down at his Quebec home by unknown assailants as he watched hockey on TV. The 44-year-old was hit by 17 bullets, 7 of them to the head. The murder remains unsolved to this day.

6. Rikidozan

Korean-born Japanese legend Rikidozan is one of the founding fathers of Japanese pro-wrestling, which he helped popularize after a career in sumo wrestling. While partying in a Tokyo nightclub in 1963, Rikidozan was stabbed with a urine-soaked knife by a member of the Yakuza. For one reason or another, the wrestler did not receive medical care right away, and he died of peritonitis in a hospital one week later. While the cause of the attack was never uncovered with any certainty, it was rumored that the stabbing was revenge for a match in which Rikidozan kicked wrestler Masahiro Kimura "for real", presumably causing the mob some kind of gambling-related monetary loss.

Enough Is Enough: Kill The Criminals

Puerto Rico's murder rate, after a dip in 2015, has been rising again since

last year, when it hit 20 homicides per 100,00 people. While this rate is st-

ill below that of insane hellholes like El Salvador, Honduras or Brazil, it is

much higher than the United State's national average of 5.3 per 100,000 in 

2016. As the economic situation in Puerto Rico worsens, I think it's safe to

assume that the violent crime situation will also worsen. You would think
that since Puerto Ricans are leaving the island in droves, that that would lo-
wer the crime numbers, but that never seems to happen. The numbers may
ebb and flow, but Boricuas have been fleeing to the mainland US for several
years now, and the murder rate remains stubbornly high. While measures like 

legalizing drugs would help drive crime down immensely, I doubt that that 

would be enough. We need a strong deterrent to make criminals think twice 

before carrying out a barbaric act. We need to bring back the death penalty.

Puerto Rico abolished capital punishment in 1929, starting a long period of
giving murderers and other scum the privilege of getting free housing, 

meals and healthcare for years or decades as a reward for being drains on so-

ciety. Since then, deadly violence in our land has become our daily bread. Ho-

rrific murders of men, women and children make the news almost every day, 

and while many are related to the drug trade, not all of them are. Some are so-

called crimes of passion, some happen as a result of arguments, some are the 

result of robberies. In some cases, people seem to be killed just for the hell 

of it. Regardless of the motive, Puerto Rico's law abiding majority deserves 

to feel safe, anywhere and at any time. Reinstituting the death penalty is 

not just a matter of removing dangerous maniacs from our society, but also 

of administering justice, of giving evildoers what they deserve. And they do

not deserve to live, even if  it's in prison.

For a long time now, it seems as if we worry more about the rights of crimi-
nals than about the rights of victims, to say nothing of the right all law-abi-
ding citizens have to walk the streets in safety. Why should criminals be
allowed to vote? And why shouldn't prison inmates be forced to work in
exchange for the generous support taxpayers give them? And more impor-
tantly, why should those who have taken the lives of others be allowed to
keep their own lives? They certainly shouldn't be allowed to roam the
streets ever again, at the very least. But in an island that is as broke as
Puerto Rico is, can we afford to support criminals for their whole lives?

While our justice system needs to do everything possible to avoid punishing 

innocent people, the guilty must be removed from our midst. Whether they 

had bad childhoods, or their spouse cheated on them or they have "mental pr-

oblems": too bad. Kill them. I don't care how it's done: shoot them, gas them, 

hang them, burn them, electrocute them, poison them. Just get rid of this sub-

human garbage.  We have had enough.

THREE MURDERED IN CAROLINA ON SUNDAY

As reported by El Nuevo Dia, three people were murdered Sunday night at around
7:30 PM on Road PR-857, in the Canovanillas sector of Carolina. A 911 call alerted
the police to three people who had been shot. Upon arriving, police found the bodies
of Julio M. López Castro, age 41, and Jonathan J. López Pizarro, age 22. A 23-year-
old man, Jonathan Rodríguez Cabrera, was taken to Centro Médico in Río Piedras
with various gunshot wounds. He died while receiving treatment. These three killi-
ngs were part of seven overall murders registered across the island during this past
weekend. The number of murders for the year in Puerto Rico now stands at 484, 70
more than at this time last year.

TOURISM COULD FACE LOSSES FROM BLACKOUT

"Despite the lengthy lines thousands of Puerto Ricans did on hotels and restaur-
ants after the island remained partially dark for more than 40 hours, the final bal-
ance of the incident isn’t necessarily positive for Puerto Rico’s tourism industry,
much less for the general economy. While hundreds of hotels saw a significant in-
crease in their occupancy since Wednesday, others have had to cancel reservations
due to the outage or have had to send guests to a different accommodation because
their electric plants didn’t work, exploded, or simply couldn’t tolerate the emergen-
cy usage, revealed economist Jorge Elguera to Caribbean Business. Similar incide-
nts occurred at some restaurants that didn’t have electric generators or hadn’t given
them maintenance..."

PPT CANDIDATE CALLS FOR PLACITA AGREEMENT

"Puerto Rican Working People’s Party (PPT by its Spanish initials) candidate for
the San Juan municipal assembly Jorge Farinacci Fernós on Thursday proposed
reaching a “consensual agreement” that will allow the harmonization of the inter-
ests of the diff erent sectors at the Placita de Santurce. “We have to recognize that
we are all part of the same community, so we have to try a reach a consensual agr-
eement,” Farinacci Fernós said, referring to the public dispute between the reside-
nts and business owners in the area. Farinacci Fernós noted that certain issues need
to be cleared up regarding the aff ected parties and the interests involved, such as the
fact that residents of the area have a right to be able to rest and to the “tranquility they
deserve after a long day at work;” the businesses and their staff s, which are trying to
make a living, and the people who visit the establishments to enjoy one of the only
open public spaces remaining in Puerto Rico..."

UNITED WAY: ECONOMY STRANGLING NON-PROFITS

PUERTO RICO ZIKA CASES SEE BIG JUMP

"Health Secretary Ana Ríus announced Friday that for the epidemiological week
number 30 some 1,914 new cases of Zika were confirmed in the island, for a total
of 10,690 accumulated cases since the virus first arrived in Puerto Rico. The new
data includes 134 pregnant women for a total of 1,035. In addition, two more peo-
ple have been hospitalized for a total of 90 and there are three new cases of Guilla-
in-Barré syndrome for a total of 30 confirmed cases in laboratories. “We have in
our hands the necessary tools to avoid being infected with the Zika virus,” Ríus
said in a written statement. “Even if we don’t feel sick, we need to protect our-
selves..."

MURDERS IN AGUAS BUENAS & LAS PIEDRAS

As reported by El Nuevo Dia, a man between 20 and 25 years of age was murde-
red on road PR-173 in Aguas Buenas. The killing was reported at around 2:50 AM
this morning, and police found the body 15 minutes later. The man, of approxima-
tely 140 pounds, with black hair and beard, has yet to be identified. A second mur-
der was reported at approximately 5:50 AM on road PR-916 in Las Piedras. A 911
call alerted police to a bleeding person in the area. Police found the body minutes
later.

DONAHUE GETS $6.7M CONTRACT EXTENSION

by several sticking points, the Puerto Rico Electric Authority’s (Prepa) board vo-
ted to extend the contract of AlixPartners, headed by Lisa Donahue, to the tune
of $6.713 million. The contract, which was due to expire Aug. 15, will be exten-
ded through Dec. 15. “The deal is broken down with half the money for restruc-
turing-related work and the other half for operational related improvements,” said
one source with knowledge of negotiations. The restructuring work involves ma-

MAN MURDERED IN CANOVANAS

Police are investigating the murder of a man whose bullet-riddled body was
found Wednesday morning in the San Isidro district of  Canóvanas. Police fo-
und the deceased man on Calle #1 at around 5:09 AM yesterday. He has been
described as dark-skinned and approximately 30 to 35 years of age. At the time
of this writing, he was yet to be identified.

NPP BLASTS BERNIER OVER PERFORMANCE

TWO MURDERS REPORTED THIS MORNING

As reported by El Nuevo Día, two separate murders were registered in Puer-

to Rico this morning, with the first one occuring at around 12:52 AM at the 

Placita de Santurce in San Juan. After callers reported shots heard in the vic-

inity, Police found the body of 44-year old Mario Díaz Pérez, whose body was 

riddled with bullets. The second killing occured at around 8:11 AM this morn-

ing in the Barahona sector of Morovis, on Road PR-633. Police have yet to id-

entify the victim or release any other information. 

TROPICAL WAVE TO BRING WEEKEND RAIN

"The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami says a tropical wave, loca-

ted about 1200 miles east of the Lesser Antilles is moving westward at about 

25 mph. The associated shower activity is poorly organized, “and given the

chance of it forming into a tropical cyclone through the next 48 hours is low 

at 20 percent. Its formation chance through five days is still considered low 

but rises to 30 percent..."

TREASURY REPORTS 2% REVENUE INCREASE

"The Puerto Rico Treasury Department collected some $9.1 billion in reve-

nue for the General Fund during Fiscal 2016, exceeding Fiscal 2015 numbers 

by $214.4 million or 2.4 percent, agency Secretary Juan Zaragoza-Gómez said. 

The increase was much greater considering that last year, there were revenues 

from legislative measures of nearly $468 million that were not recurrent for FY 

2015-16, he said. When comparing the revenue registered for the year to the re-

vised total estimate of $9.2 billion, the government achieved a 98.7 percent co-

MAN CONVICTED FOR CARJACKINGS AND MURDER

Today, Carmelo Velázquez-Aponte a.k.a. “Boty,” was found guilty of four
carjackings, carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence
(carjacking), and possession of a stolen firearm...According to the testimony
on June 18, 2011, the defendant stole the licensed firearm belonging to Rich-
ardson Mieses-Pimental and his vehicle, and then executed him. After that
event, Velázquez-Aponte committed other carjackings. During his attempt to
escape his arrest on June 20, 2011, he also stole a police officer’s gun and shot
a Police officer. The defendant also stole a police cruiser and engaged in two
other shootouts with police officers, until he was arrested. The defendant fired
the stolen weapons at the police officers..."

PREPA CUTS POWER AT HOUSING PROJECTS

"In keeping with the eff ort to collect unpaid bills, the Public Housing
Administration (AVP by its Spanish acronym) announced Monday that
during the past week electrical service has been suspended to clients in
public housing projects in the regions of Mayagüez, Arecibo, Caguas
and Ponce. The AVP also announced that more than 30,000 public hou-
sing residents are late in paying their electricity bills. The heavily indeb-
ted Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) said nearly 170 cus-
tomers were affected by Monday’s action..."

UPR PROFESSOR SKEPTICAL OF NALED SPRAYING

"The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has exaggerated the risk levels
associated with the Zika virus to justify the aerial spraying of the insecti-
cide Naled over Puerto Rico, a University of Puerto Rico (UPR) profes-
sor said Tuesday. Cruz María Nazario, a professor in the Department of
Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Puerto Rico Medical
Sciences campus, accused the CDC of a lack of scientific rigorousness,
following CDC statements that allegedly overstate the risk for pregnant
women with the Zika virus of having babies with microcephaly. “The le-
vel of risk that has been employed to put fear in communities is wrong,”
said the UPR professor during a press conference in which other academ-
ics and politicians discussed the dangers of Naled, a substance that has
been banned for several years in the European Union..."

PIERLUISI: TASK FORCE CHAIR TO BE NAMED

Tuesday that U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan could name the lawmaker who

Individual Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison for His Participation in a Carjacking Murder

US Attorney's Office - San Juan

SAN JUAN, P.R. –Luis Antonio Crespo-Santos was sentenced to 18 years
in prison for his participation in the carjacking and murder of security guard
Jorge R. De Jesús-Ayala, announced Rosa Emilia Rodríguez-Vélez, United
States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico. Defendant Crespo-Santos pled
guilty on January 21, 2016.

On June 9, 2012 the defendant and four others planned to assault the victim
at his job located at Paseo del Rey Condominium Complex in Carolina, Pu-
erto Rico. The four others were Ashdrian, Yankee, Gamalier and Mikey/Mi-
chael, who are still at large. Gamalier had sold the victim a laptop and he still
owed money to Gamalier. The individuals planned to go see De Jesús-Ayala
to charge him for the laptop but he didn’t have the money.

Gamalier pulled a gun, pointed it at De Jesús-Ayala and told him “you are
coming with us.” Ashdrian, Yankee, and Gamalier covered the victim’s head
with a t-shirt, bound his hands behind his back with an electrical cord, and
forced him into the back seat of his red 2010 Toyota Yaris. They drove to a
wooded area in Carolina and stabbed him in the back and slit his throat.

Later that night, the police received information that individuals were disman-
tling a vehicle fitting the description of De Jesús-Ayala’s vehicle. Police offi-
cers responded to the location and observed a minor and the defendant disma-
ntling the vehicle. The body of De Jesús-Ayala was later found near Urbaniz-
ation Metropolis in Carolina.

“Federal and local law enforcement officers will continue working together
to fight violent crime in Puerto Rico,” said US Attorney Rosa Emilia Rodrí-
guez-Vélez. “We will not rest until we find the other co-conspirators invol-
ved in this vicious crime and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney José Contreras.

PUERTO RICO MOURNS ORLANDO VICTIMS

US SENATE TO CONSIDER PROMESA IN JUNE

"Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday the Senate will consider a
rescue package to ease Puerto Rico’s financial crisis before the U.S. territory’s
$2 billion payment to creditors is due July 1. The House overwhelmingly pa-
ssed legislation to create a new control board and restructure some of Puerto
Rico’s $70 billion debt last week. The Senate is expected to take up the same
bill “sometime before the end of the month,” McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters
Tuesday..."

FBI INVESTIGATES BANKER'S DEATH IN PR

"The Federal Bureau of Investigation has identified possible suspects in its long-
running investigation into the murder of a banker in Puerto Rico,  but it is now
asking the public for help in solving the 2011 killing. Five years ago this week,
Maurice Spagnoletti, a top executive at Doral Financial, the holding company
that owned a Puerto Rico bank, was gunned down on his way home from work
in San Juan...The F.B.I. announced on Tuesday a $20,000 reward for information
that leads to an arrest..."

LIBERTY LAUNCHES HBO NOW IN PUERTO RICO
